19'' subracks according to railway standards
Ruf Telematik AG, headquartered in Schlieren, Switzerland, is a leading provider of complete solutions in the fieldof passenger information and passenger safety for public transportation, in vehicles, at railway stations and bus stops. Ruf Telematik offers acoustic and visual VisiWeb passenger information systems and systems for passenger counts and video surveillance in public transport. These systems are based on digital technology and have a modular design; this means that they can be adapted to the operator's specific requirements in terms of functionality and size.
Worldwide, some 1'500 vehicles with Ruf systems are in service. The Ruf system components are fi tted to new vehicles but also to legacy stock (refitting). While installation space for standardized 19" racks is planned and prepared directly by the vehicle manufacturer in new vehicles, refit projects are very much more demanding. Legacy vehicles, typically do not have standard installtion spaces and require completely new wiring.
The 19'' rack by Elma simplifies the installation of Ruf components in refi tting and new projects. Elma delivers the 19'' rack, front panels and handles for the Ruf VisiWeb system, so that the onboard computer of the system, the power supply, the acoustic assemblies, and the video recording devices and interface cards can be grouped as a system. All the components are designed to meet the strict requirements prescribed in railway operations. «In the harsh environment of railway operations, all co ponents must be capable of withstanding vibrations and temperature fluctuations. Elma impresses with the high quality of its products and its ability to implement our specific requirements.»
